From June 18th to July 1st, 2008, the Bridge of Love Adoption Service (BLAS) served a heritage tour to China for a group of Holt International, of America. In the two-week’s return visit, BLAS arranged many special activities for them, which distinctly had a heritage and Chinese culture trait.
In Beijing, the adoption families were invited to visit the Ministry of Civil Affairs of PRC, and met the Vice Minister, Dou Yupei. Mr. Dou made a fiery speech and presented welcoming cards and Olympic mascot—“Fu Wa” to the adopted children. Then, adoption families visited the offices of CCAA,and knew more about the procedure of foreign related adoption in China. Then they took part in the interesting activities prepared by the BLAS’s staffs. The adopted children got more knowledge of Chinese culture. They learned Chinese calligraphy and wrote their Chinese names by the brush. Besides, the families also went to the Great Wall, Forbidden City and enjoyed wonderful Chinese Kungfu show.
In provinces, the families received a warm welcome from Orphanage staff. They enjoyed flowers, welcoming banners and special programs prepared by children in the orphanage. They visited the open area of orphanage, talked with nannies, and looked over the files of adopted children. They could see with their own eyes that the children in orphanage were looked after well, and they also had beautiful childhood memories of their own. |
