My Special Trip to China

                                                                                                       By Alex Cremins

This past summer, I went on a grand and exciting trip to China! This was a family heritage tour sponsored by my adoption agency, Holt International. We went with ten other families. The reason I went on this awesome trip was to get a better picture of who I am, where I’m from and to see the beautiful country of China.

Each day of our trip was action packed. We toured many places such as Tian An Men Square, the Forbidden City, official buildings, and schools.  We also went to orphanages and even visited Mother’s Love, my orphanage.  Amazingly, the orphanage director, Mrs. Liu, recognized me after all these years I’ve been away!

I feel that the most important part of the trip was meeting my foster mom, Mrs. Liu.  She was jubilant when she saw me and surprised that I was as tall as I am.  She brought me a yellow dress, but it was too small.  The next day, she brought me a red dress that was a perfect fit!  She told us that I was very tiny when she got me, maybe only three pounds!  My parents were shocked because when they got me I was huge!  I will be forever grateful to Mrs. Liu for restoring my health and giving me a great start.  She knew I wouldn’t be with her for very long, but she took care of me with love and pride.  This trip was an awesome and unforgettable experience!
