Adoptive Families Seeking Roots in Huanggang and Zhanjiang

     Hubei,Huanggang: One Family,Eternal Love

    

On November 26th, the eleven foreign adoptive families from Australia, Britain, Holland, Sweden and America came into Huanggang Social Welfare Institute that they have been yearning for a long period to the attend their root-seeking tour which is organized and served by the Bridge of Love Adoption Service (BLAS).

At nine o’clock in the morning, the grand welcoming ceremony began. Liu Yulin, director of Huanggang Social Welfare Institute, delivered a welcoming speech to the adoptive families, and welcomed the return of adopted children to their birthplace. Zeng Xinping, deputy director of Social Welfare and Social Affairs Division under the Bureau of Civil Affairs of Hubei Province, paid a high tribute to the adoptive parents’ love to orphaned or disabled children in his speech, and welcomed the return of these adoptive families. Wang Haoming, vice mayor of Huanggang City, on behalf of all the citizens, expressed best wishes to the adoptive families in his speech. And then, the leaders presented splendid albums reflecting the appearance of Huanggang to every adoptive family.

In the welcome ceremony, the adoptive families and the adopted children enjoyed the acts performed by the staff members and the children living in the institute. The show included the song “With Appreciation in Heart” in sign language, poetry recitation “Thank You, Mommy”, and towards the closing of the ceremony, the children danced the rabbit dance with the adoptive parents, which pushed the ceremony to a climax.

In the afternoon, every adoptive family planted a cassia tree in the new Welfare Institute site under construction for eternal memory. After that, the adoptive families came to the South Lake orchard and tasted the pleasure of picking up oranges.

In the evening, the adoptive families learned to make dumplings and Tangyuan (glutinous rice balls) with delighted alacrity. Mi Lu, from Dutch adoptive family, can wrap decent dumplings after patient instruction of the staff. Looking at the dumplings made by her own hands, she excitedly said: “I can only make some simple western food at home, but I learned how to make dumplings today, how wonderful! It’s really interesting. Thank you for your colorful activities arranged for us.”

         Guangdong, Zhanjiang: Love Beyond the Borders,

          Motherland----Zhanjiang

 

   

On November 26th, the twenty-six foreign adoptive families from Canada and America came into Zhanjiang Social Welfare Institute in Guangdong province that they have been yearning for a long period to attend their root-seeking tour which is organized and served by the Bridge of Love Adoption Service (BLAS).

At nine o’clock in the morning, the Welfare Institute held a grand welcome ceremony. Su Musheng, director of Zhanjiang Social Welfare Institute, on behalf of all the staff in this Welfare Institute, welcomed the return of these adoptive families. Yang Jianping, vice-bureau chief of Bureau of Zhanjiang Civil Affairs, gave a passionate speech and presented Zhanjiang-specific souvenirs---- shell carvings to the adopted children. Ms. Vicky, an adoptive mother from the US, on behalf of all adoptive parents, thanked the children welfare institute sincerely for what they have done for the orphaned or disabled children. During the celebration, the adopted children and the children living in the welfare institute sang the song of Little Star together. The welcome ceremony drew to a close after Zhanjiang-specific Lion Dance.

In the afternoon, under the elaborate arrangement of the welfare institute, the adopted children and the children living in the welfare institute conducted many fresh interactive activities such as tug-of-war competition, group rope-skipping competition, two runners racing with legs fastened together and eagle-catching-chickens which narrowed the distance between them and enhanced mutual understanding and friendship.

In addition, during the stay of root-seeking group, they consulted the adoption archives in Guangdong Provincial Archives.
